Manage course payment gateways

Payment administrators use their ASIS identity to manage payment accounts in their school’s Moodle site. No separate Moodle password is issued.

Get access

A school owner or platform administrator assigns payment administrators in Learning Platform → Payment administrators. Once assigned, sign in to ASIS Learn, open My Learning, and select Manage payments for the school.

Payment administration entry point

This role manages Moodle payment accounts and their gateway settings. It does not grant full Moodle site administration or course editing. Installing and globally enabling gateway plugins is handled by ASIS operations.

Configure an account

  1. Open the school’s payment accounts through Manage payments.
  2. Create or select the school’s payment account.
  3. Configure the required gateway with credentials from the school’s merchant account.
  4. Use test/sandbox credentials first and confirm the course currency is supported.
  5. Ask the course administrator to select the payment account, amount and currency on the paid-enrolment method.
  6. Test checkout and access before enabling live payments.

The bundled gateway options are PayPal, Stripe, Mollie, Razorpay and the ASIS Paystack adapter. Availability at checkout depends on configuration and currency support.

Credentials and currency

The school’s authorised merchant-account administrator creates the provider credentials. The Moodle recovery account is not a merchant account. Store secrets only in the gateway configuration and your approved secret store.

The ASIS Paystack adapter uses the Secret key to initialise server-side checkout; it does not require a public-key field. A valid learner email and an enabled currency are required. To charge GHS, update the course’s paid-enrolment currency and price in Moodle; do not merely change the gateway label.

If access shows Needs attention, use Refresh payment access and ask the school owner to check the assignment and linked identity. Never pay twice to investigate a charged-but-unconfirmed payment.
